WordPress has undergone a design overhaul.
Website designers are able to access a variety of style pre-sets without having to switch themes thanks to a new style switcher that was added to the block themes capability in WordPress 6.0 “Arturo”.
Josepha Haden Chomphosy, executive director at WordPress, said that she was very proud of the work that has been done to create an excellent website editing experience. With better block functionality, thoughtful updates to the writing experience, and adding a new and intuitive style switcher, building websites has never been easier.
WP has also rolled out five all-new template choices for block themes, expanded its design tool with new features such as a new colour panel and transpacity options, and included a new feature that allows website designers to choose lock restrictions in blocks in order to help simplify project handovers.
According to Chomphosy, when Gutenberg was expanded into a full site editing experience in WordPress, it meant that the community had to address a slew of difficult and far-reaching issues. Moreover, the community is still working through these issues to this day. Chomphosy also mentioned that WordPress 6.0 exemplifies the community’s commitment to tackling these difficult challenges together.
The CMS platform’s blog post states that the new WordPress release was made possible by the contributions of more than 500 individuals from approximately 58 different countries.
6.0 “Arturo” comes after the release of WordPress 5.9 “Joséphine” in January of this year. “Joséphine” was known for introducing block themes, as well as full site editing.
The roll-out of 6.0 “Arturo” is the second major release from WordPress.org this year.
